One of the coolest things for me about the Alliance is the partnership with the Breast Cancer Foundation. In order to be a part of the movement to raise funds for breast cancer research in a small way, I agreed to model (yup, makeup, big hair, catwalk – the whole shebang) for a the breast… Read more »
I was lucky enough to be invited on a trip to Whistler in February for Ski Press Magazine and was reminded what an incredible place it is. I haven’t been since ’05 and I truly forgot how much that place has to offer. In addition to world-class skiing – it snowed 3 feet while I… Read more »
A few girls and I headed back up to Sugar Mtn. for one of the last ski weekends of the season. All of our husbands are in the Marine Corps together and all three of theirs are currently deployed overseas. I figured it was the perfect time for a girls’ trip. As we came into… Read more »

While this may double as shameless self-promotion of my current Mountain Girl column in Ski Press Canada, I couldn’t help posting it considering the subject matter – why I personally don’t want to ski like a man! If you can’t read it here, check it out at http://skipressworld.com/ca/index.php/canadavol23no3-8.html then go to page 14. Let me… Read more »

Adriana and I just had our women’s weekend here in Taos. About half of the women attended the weekend last year. It was great that we had ladies returning and it was a lot of fun…despite the fact that we didn’t get dumped on like we did last year during the event. Instead it was… Read more »
Just got home from an epic trip to the North Cascades. Located only 70 miles before the Canadian border, we’re lucky to have this little gem in the states. I was there with Dakine, Freeskier, and the Nimbus Independent film crew (be sure to check out their webisodes at www.nimbusindependent.com). With only 4 days booked… Read more »
Chicago Winter Festival went off last weekend with a rail jam set up in Grant Park. Raging Buffalo a local snowboard park in one of the Chicago Suburbs put on the event that brought in about 50 contestants, a mix of skiers and boarders. Only 5 of which were girls and none of which were… Read more »
Ok, you caught me. I stole the title for this post from a book written by Arlene Blum that tells the story of an all-female trip to the summit of Annapurna in 1978. Bad a** chicitas. I know, I was there. Well, ok, I wasn’t exactly there there—I was a year old in ‘78—but I… Read more »
A little K2 love in Backcountry.com. Alliance member, Lindsay Yaw in a little powder at Valhalla Mtn Touring Lodge in B.C. If only every day was a powder day….

Seeing a 100 foot snowboard ramp in NYC on the East River was really amazing! On Feb. 5th to watch Shawn White and other great riders perform right in front of you, with NYC as the backdrop, was very impressive. This event was free to anyone who could stand out there in the frigid temps. And… Read more »
Earlier this week, my husband and I decided to take a last minute trip to Monarch Mountain – a little, often overlooked ski area in Central Colorado. On a whim, we decided to check the availability on their K2-sponsored snow cat tours and as luck would have it, they had two seats left! Our luck… Read more »
